WHY USE DIRECT INSTRUCTION, AS PROVIDED BY DREAMCATCHER?

Dreamcatcher uses “Direct Instruction”, a curriculum with over 40 years of impressive research and a track record of proven results for all learners.  It has several key values and benefits.  For instance, in the early reading program – there are visual cues.  Since reading is a visual activity, having a cue (such as silent letters colored blue), allows for more correct student responses attempted the first time, which allows the brain to learn and retain information faster.  In math, concepts are taught to show connections to real world applications, along with accelerated learning techniques that promote faster fact memorization and application. This creates a well balanced math program with students feeling confident in their math knowledge!
